Design your own challenge: Donate clothing to the Salvation Army.
My mum and I thought that it would be nice to get ride of some of our clothing and give it to the Salvation Army. Later that day I grabbed one of those huge pink bags and started throwing all my clothes in it. My mum started to yell at me and say no do not throw all of your clothing only the ones that don't fit or you don't wear. I started going through all of my clothing nicely and trying on the stuff that I was not sure about. Once I had filled the bag I realized that my brother and parents have heaps of clothing too that they don't need. I asked my mum weather she had any clothing that she didn't need and said that she filled her bottom draw with clothes that she somehow needs to get rid of. Next I asked my brother and he told me that he will go through them soon, which he eventually did when I dragged him away from the television. When my dad got home I was going to ask him but he seemed very tired from work.
The next day before we took the stuff in my mum gave me a great idea, we could get rid of some of our old baby books and toys. So we spent an hour sorting out those and then made our way down to the Salvation Army. I wanted to hand it straight to them to see there reaction, and to see what the kids and other people in there thought of it but instead we slipped a card inside of one of the bags and then threw the in the huge box thing. The card said....
Hello,
We are donating this many items because we think it is going to a very good cause and we hope that you like our donation to you. We enjoy giving items to you because the people who buy them probably can't afford buying them straight from the shop it was originally sold from and have to come to you guys to buy the second hand version that we donated. We hope you enjoy the clothing and other items.
Yours Sincerely, the Hudsons.

Homework A1
Improve your maths ability: Complete a 10x10 grid in under 2min.
Over the last week or so I have been working on getting at grid done in under ten minutes. I thought that tonight would be then night that I time it. I trying 4 times and didn't get under two minutes. I was now starting to give up I was only 3 seconds off so I tried on last time. In the final one my time was 1:53 which I was extremely happy with.
My Tactic is, I would go down the Y axis and then do the same on the X axis, but once I got to the fives I went through and did all the tens and nines because I knew them quite well. I would then If I had spare time go through the eights and sevens again and check them because I dont know then as well as others.
I think I did an alright job because I am not the best at times tables and I find that, they are a big part in our learning (knowing basic equations) and we should. I could have done better if I tried a little harder and didn't have a stopwatch right infront of my face. I think it would have also helped if we kept doing them in class, because I used to enjoy them and I felt good everyday when I would get a better score.

KFC
When my family was ordering KFC my mum asked the guy how much an extra piece of chicken was and he said $9.00 and then my mum said how come it says right here that any extra pieces of chicken are $3.00 each. The guy just walked off and got our food he gave us the piece of extra chicken but he was holding it in his hands. We then asked to speak to his manager and he said no. We then walked out of KFC with our meal when we got home it was cold and disgusting, we then rang the manager and told about the guy and our food. He asked weather we could remember his name, which of course we couldn't because he was an asian and had we couldn't understand his voice or read the name on his shirt.

Science Fair Summary
For my science fair my topic is a Science and it is called Tongue Sensitivity.
For mine my aim is to find out which taste the tongue is most sensitive to. To find that out I had to test some people. I had to look at their reaction and at the end I would put down which one they had the most reaction too, and they woud also tell which one they thought was the worst.
I found this years science fair much better than last years because I was more organised and I have a better topic this year. I really enjoy doing science fair because it is a fun thing to do and I really enjoy presenting it and feeling good with myself!

Cross Country
This morning our school had cross country we all were eager to get it over and done with so then we would feel good at the end because we had completed it. For the cross country you started off on the field and then you go out of the school onto the foot path and then you frasor street road and then come back into school. You then have to go around the turf and go around the whole school. Now you will go back around the field and do the same thing again. You only have to go around twice and then you will get your speed up and go around the field to the finish line.
First up was the year 7 girls they all started off by doing a gentle warm up so then they would be ready to get going. Once they had started racing some of the Rimu girls were off to a good start and I was hoping that my race would be like that. Up the front was Meila and we all new that right from the start she would win which she did. Next was the year 7 boys, all the rimu boys placed good but none of them got into the top three. Now it was my turn to go up and start warming up, we did gentle runs and really good stretches that made us feel good. Once we got told to go up in our house there had to be the first fastest girls at the front and so on I was in the second row. Some of us up the front thought that we would get bowled over because that happened to me last year. I ended up getting a good start in this race and I was in the top 50 by the looks of things. Once I ran down the big hill I started to cry but so did a lot of other girls. Once I got up to Miss Potaka I saw that she took a photo of me it was cool. I started running faster because I made my way to a little down hill bit. All of a sudden I felt the erge to walk but I didn't I made a promise with myself that I would not walk the whole thing. On the second lap I felt good and knew that I was heading towards the end. Caitlin caught up to me and we ran together for a little bit. Once I reached the last little bit I sprinted as fast as I could and passed about 8 people and came in with a good placing, 36 out of 250 girls. I felt really good with myself because my aim was under 50 and I did that.

Phone game
Subway Surfer.
Subway Surfer is a game where you jump over trains and duck under signs, your aim is to get high scores and get better power ups. You can double tap to get a surf board so then you surf until your time is up. You can connect it to Facebook so then you can verse your friends scores and try and bet there scores. There are heaps of different types of character like robots, girls, men, and a disco stew. You can also upgrade your board by buying new ones. You need to collect coins when you are playing so then you can buy all the cool things in the shop. Every now and again they update it so that the setting is in a different place, which is quite exciting and is a good way to get more people to play. I really enjoy this game because it is really competitive and fun to play
G2 Give to your family
Prepare a three course meal for your family.
A couple of weeks ago I prepared a three course meal for my family and one of my friends. I set the table out ready for the starter and then had the main and dessert cutlery on the bench. I spent overall about an hour working on how I was going to set it out, in the end I decided that I would have thoughts written on a piece of paper and then after each meal they would have to write down there thoughts and rate it out of ten.
STARTER:
For the starter I made Chicken Kebabs and Prawns. I started of by cutting the chicken into long lines and then stabbing them onto a stick and putting it into the oven to cook. The Prawns were already made so all I had to do was put those into the oven. Apparently presentation is a big thing with cooking so I laid the kebabs around the outside and put the prawns on the inside.
MY RESULTS:
Mum: Nice presentation, very tasty.
Renee: Very Yumm.
Dad: The Prawn's were amazing.
MAIN:
For the main I made calazone. Firstly I Started by making the dough it took about half and hour just to get it right. On the inside since my brother is really fussy I had to make one Hawaiian and the rest meat ones. I tried to make sure I didn't put to much cheese and since I was focusing on that I ended up putting way to much dough in the calazone.
MY RESULTS:
Mum: Very Yummy recipe, but needs a bit of tweaking.
Renee: Really good but too much bread.
Dad: Bigger is better as they say. Yummy inner but struggling to move as my stomach is full.
DESSERT:
For the dessert I just had a simple ice cream and lollies.
MY RESULTS:
Mum: Yummy you could have taken a bit more time on your presentation.
Renee: Best ice cream ever!
Dad: Flavours were great and the snake was a twist.
OVERALL
Mum: 7/10
Renee: 10/10
Dad: 8/10

"Nah why should I?!?!" Travis explained.
Nicole Started blabbing on about why he should stop then....
"CUT IT OUT YOU TWO!!!" Sonya shouted across the room.
"She started it."
"No well yah but NOOOO!" I shouted angrily.
"Well it doesn't matter who started it just leave each other alone, and stop talking I am busy!" Sonya said as we felt really mad at each other.

Nun Breaks girls Arm
A Nun have broken the arm of a nine year old girl during a Sunday school class. The nun is on trial in Auckland District court on charges of assaulting the child and injuring with intent. She said that the children were practicing an action song to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Church, when sister Liva started to yell at the nine year old girl and saying that she was doing the actions wrong. She walked up to the girl and flicked her in the side of her head, causing her to feel dissy. She then went up behind the girl twisted her arm and then they all heard a click in the girls neck and arm. The girl then burst into tears and had to get taken out of class.

My weekend
On Saturday after swimming training we went up to my nanna's house to clean it out, we started off with sealing some of the older stuff on Trade Me and then we started dusting down all of the desks and things on the mantel piece. Later on my friend came over because her mum had a night out and she needed to come and stay the night at someones house. Once she arrived we just sat on our computers and watched a movie, the movie got really boring after a while so we went and did some baking. We decided to make brownies, once we put the brownies in the oven we ended up forgetting about them and we burnt them like crazy, I dared my brother to eat one and I would give him a dollar, but just as he was about to put it in his mouth we heard the sirren of mr whippy coming down our road. It was the first time in 5 years that he had come down our road, I used the last 3 dollars that I had and got mr whippy.
On Sunday I woke up at like 5am and couldn't get back to sleep, so we got up and made bacon and eggs for the rest of the family. Later on after breakfast we printed out stuff for her science fair and then glued onto her board. Next we got to go out for lunch on the way there it started to rain and I said that I would just walk in the rain because there wasn't enough room under the umbrella but my mum yelled at me and said that I would get a cold, then I answered back smartly saying I already have a cold, and thats when it all began. Once we got into the restaurant we sat down at a table and ordered our food my friend and I both got a toasted sandwich and a bowl of fries. When we arrived at home I remembered that my dad owed me a laptop case and laptop skin, so I went onto Ebay and orded my case. I had I great weekend.

Book review 1 Lizard on the Loose.
Lizard on the loose is written by Mary Small. It is a chapter book about a kid called Henry. Henry is longing for a pet. He thinks he'd like a hamster or a dog, but his parents tell him there's no way. So when he gets the chance, he buys a blue-tongued lizard from a school chum. Everything's OK until Mum finds out, but by that time the lizard has had babies!
It is an interesting book because it is the sort of thing that all kids hope for when they are younger. I found it cool because I never knew that hamsters weren't allowed in Australia so that I something I learned in that book. In the book it suggests that kids need to let wild animals into there natural habitat and not to keep them in a box or under there bed, because it just upsets them and makes them feel uncomfortable.
My opinion on the book is that the title is not good because once you read the first couple of pages where it explains how he wants a pet, the title gives away that he is going to end up getting a lizard and then loosing it. Overall I enjoyed the book and would like to read other books like that because they relate to kids our age or younger and that keep you entertained it doesn't have long boring bits it is just a wonderful full on story.

"Coming," Sarah replied, "whats so important?"
"I think I found some money,"Jacob said, "down here in this gap, there is something down there and I know it."

"Wow so you mad me come across the field and onto the playground so you could dig out a dollar." Sarah explained.

My brother Travis
My brother called Travis is mentally retarded in the head, well thats what I think. He always breaks technology, like one month ago he threw his camera at a wall, then last week he went and punched his bedroom window and finally yesterday morning he decided to smash the microwave.
When my brother broke the camera I could tell it was going to happen because whenever he gets mad he twitches his nose. It was really funny because he was really grumpy and yelling because he had no technology, once he had thrown the camera his face went bright red and he started yelling now I have nothing, and thats when I made it worse by laughing and saying haha you just broke one of your only pieces of technology and then he went ballistic.
Another one of his incidents wasn't to long ago I am pretty sure it was last week, when he didn't want to come to swimming training so he started kicking the wall and then he said to my mum 'I am not going to swimming and If you make me go I will brake the window.' So my mum walked out of the room and said get ready for swimming. I was standing outside with my laptop because that is the first thing he would break if he wanted to, I was standing there waiting for the smash of his window and then my mum told me to come inside, about three seconds later I heard a smash. Like normal I just laughed and said to myself he is going to be cold tonight.
The most recent one was the microwave. He was so mad that he didn't want to go to school, as he was ranting and raging about that my mum told him to turn the microwave off because it was beeping and wouldn't stop, my brother decided to grab the knife and he threw it at the microwave and that was when all the poor stopped and the microwave had sparks flying out of it. That is my mentally retarded brother Travis, how my mum is still going to put in multimedia and give him my computer.

Charging Laptops at School
What are the negatives of Rimu charging there laptops at school?
1. It will cost lots of money if all the chargers are plugged in all the time.
2. There will be heaps of cords around the classroom.
3. People will start tripping over all the cords and losing all of there chargers because other people will be using them.
What are 2 of the suggestions for solving the problem?
1. We could take points off the group whenever someone needs a charger.
2. The people would have to come and sit near the teacher and use the spare chargers for the day.
What is your opinion about Rimu students charging there laptops at school.
I think that if you have a reasonable excuse then you can use a charger but you need to have it plugged into a spot that is not in the middle of the room so then we do not have chargers all of the room.

My weekend
On the weekend I went to Taupo for swimming. I was relieved that the trip didn't take to long and I was there before I knew it. I was really nervous once I got there because I had not been to a meet in a while and I had not been training. I was amazed on the amount of people that showed up when we were in there, there were so many people that they made the adults have to sit on the other side of the pool and all the kids got to sit up on the bleachers. I was very excited to try on my new racing togs that my mum got from the UK for me they were really expensive they were $200 dollars.
Once the races started I was really energetic and ready to race but I had to wait for all of the 1500m to go and they took forever. Everyone was guttered when they found out that the water slide and Tarzan swings were closed due to a leaky building, that was the funnest thing to do at those meets.
My first race was my favourite one the 200 Breaststroke. I had only ever done that race once before and that was just for fun, so I was really nervous for this one. I had to do about 10 races over to days plus the finals so it was a really full on tiering weekend. Overall It was a spectacular weekend and I placed 4th Overall in my age group.

Why do we need colours?
Why do we need colours?
We need colours so that we can read the emotions of others. Colour is an attribute of things that result from the light. We also need colours so that we can tell wether we are making healthy choices and make the right decision. I also find that colours make things more exciting and better. If we didn't have colours I do not think that we would enjoy life as much and it is great to have colours for us to enjoy.
Define Colour: the appearance of objects (or light sources) described in terms of a person''s perception of their hue and lightness (or brightness) and saturation.

where do rainbows end?
You can't reach the end of a rainbow it is like an optical illusion. The colours you see come from millions of raindrops that are sitting at different angles in the sky. These raindrops split the sunlight into colours for us to see. When you move toward the rainbow, the angles change. So millions of different raindrops create the new rainbow with the new angles.

Our cemetery investigation
Last week on Friday our classroom made there way down to the 16th Avenue cemetery, to do a survey on the graves. We had to chose something that we wanted to survey and I chose ages. I walked around all the graves and had a look at some of them there were so many different types some of them were broken, some were really flash, some were recently put there and others were old and you could hardly read the names. At the end we had to wash our hands it was called Tapu. We will be going back again tomorrow and doing the same thing again and make the survey more accurate by adding more. I am looking forward to going back and adding more.

Homework task S4 Care for younger children organise a series of games or a dance(giving)
On the weekend my friend Renee and I taught my brother a dance, he was a bit slow on learning it but eventually get there and he completed the whole song from beginning to the end, The song was called Can't hold us by Macklemore. Some of the moves that we taught him came out of no where like the sprinkler, my favourite move that he did was crumping and the worm which he was surprisingly good at. At one stage of the dance he had to spin around in circles repeatedly, and he hit his head on the door! HAHA it was so funny at the time. I really enjoyed teaching him the dance because he is so good at some things and then others he isn't as good and ended up hurting himself.
My highlight of teaching him the dance was that I got to watch him fail and hurt himself. It was fun teaching Travis the dance because it was something to do and there were lots of laughs.
My lowlights were that he messed up my room whenever he was knocking me :(
Sprinkler haha
